The Best Whiskey Bourbon
               Recipes

What makes a Bourbon someone’s favorite?  I have asked this question to many people over the years, and price aside, it all comes down to taste. Your taste.

After doing a good number of tasting parties, hiding labels and just having some fun, trying to determine what someone’s favorites are just comes down to a personal choice.  Some people prefer a sweeter taste over one that is more sour.  Others prefer a stronger oak flavor over less oak.  The flavor that you prefer is what you prefer, nothing more nothing less.

So how do you like it?

I know many true bourbon whiskey connoisseurs will tell you that the only way to drink bourbon whiskey is straight over the rocks.  That is a bit to strong for my wife and I.  And I am here to give you some of my all time favorites and those of my wife’s as well.  We have been enjoying bourbon whiskey since the fall of 1995 when I was introduced to what has become our all time favorite for parties when we are going to partake in a spirit.

I will admit that how we drink our favorite whiskey bourbon depends largely oo the weather.   If it is hot we have a few favorite was to drink whiskey bourbon and if it is cold we have some other favorites.  What I have found is that with a better quality whiskey bourbon, I use less of a mix and tend to drink it more straight over ice.

I know what I am about to write would make some distillers cry,
but I love my bourbon whiskeys in the following ways:

Favorite
It just doesn’t get any better for me

Whiskey bourbon when it is hot and I am enjoying the great outdoors;

Take a large glass,  my favorite is one of those 32 ounce glasses

This is one for when you are really thirsty!

I fill the glass with about ½ full of ice
Put in a thin slice of lime (not lemon, this is a lime)
Pour two shots of whiskey bourbon right over the lime
Fill the glass with ice
Pour in a 12 ounce of 7 Up
Top with water and stir or as I prefer if I have another glass is to simply pour this mix back and forth between glasses

It just does not get any better than this for a hot summer day

With Ice Tea;
Now my wife likes hers a little different.  The recipe is the same as above with the exception of trading the 7 Up with 12 ounces of ice tea.  Then top it off with 7Up.  I love this one as well.  Just depends upon the day.
The above two large drinks are great for those hot days while enjoying yourself at the beach or on the boat.

For not so hot days:

At weddings or at a restaurant if we are partaking we may do the following;
whiskey bourbon over rocks with a splash of 7Up and then water.

There are a few whiskey bourbons, like my all time favorite hands down is Woodford Reserve Distillers Select, straight over the rocks with just a splash of 7Up and water.    This one is so smooth that it requires very little else to admire and enjoy the taste.

Another way that I like it is straight whiskey bourbon and a soda that is not readily available all over the United States. And I want to warn you, I do not like the sour mix that is available in some bars or restaurants.  To me this just destroys the taste of a good whiskey bourbon as the flavor of those sour mixes are just to strong and it has the tendency to overpower the flavor of the whiskey bourbon.

So what is the recipe?

Simple.  Glass, rocks, whiskey bourbon to taste, and squirt soda.  I have had some bartenders look at me like what do you want?  And IF they have the squirt I like it this way once in a while whem the limes are not available and I want my whiskey bourbon with a soda.

For a simpler method;

Of course once in a while the good old bourbon and coke.

I like it where I can still taste the whiskey bourbon of course.

If you want to get more creative then this one is for the ladies.  But be careful as its potent

Kind of like those martinis, one may be enough.

But this one is just soo tasty!

I am going to warn you again, this one can sneak up on you and give the partaker a deer In the headlights look after just one of these.

I have heard this one called a number of things but I think the main name is the: American Woman

Two of these and she may think she is from another country or something!

Shot and a half whiskey bourbon

½ ounce EACH of;
              crème de noyaux
              cherry liqueur
Shot of Southern Comfort
Stir

Like I said be careful with this one.  The tastes of all of this together makes a very smooth on the sweet side drink that will kick the unwary right under the table.  This is definitely a sipper

Enjoy your whiskey bourbon any way you like it.  Let no one tell you what to like.  It is your taste buds that you are tantalizing.  So find what you like best and enjoy the best whiskey bourbon recipes.
